  • Pixel BG-E6 5D MKIII Battery Grip

Well Before I spent $350+ gor a battery grip got my 5D MKIII. I wanted to see what the aftermarket offering was for my camera. Well the Pixel BG-E6 fits and works on the 5D MKIII but this is all I can say for now. I just got it, and I dont really think I will be keeping it. It feels like a Turd. I thought I could get past the plastic feel but you know I spent a lot of money on my awesome camera, it's like I just saddled it with piece of rubber dog shit. I am almost embarrassed. So I post this video to show you what it is and how it looks. In all seriousness, the fit and finish is ok, the rubber is a dead ringer for the real thing, it is the hollow plastic feel, and the cheap plastic battery tray that has me kind of worried. So this is going to be the Very last time I do not buy OEM accessory's. I quit buying non OEM glass after the Sigma 85mm f1.4. I have never ever been happy with a non OEM lens so why should this be any different. Well this is going to finally fix my aftermarket accessory testing habit for good. I will order the read deal Canon grip next week and this one will be for sale. I might loose a few bucks but it's ok, it serves me right for attempting to go cheap, yet again. This hundred bucks will be the last one I spend on Junk.

  • Opteka battery grip for the canon 5d mark II

After purchasing a defective opteka battery grip, i finally received a working battery grip. The Opteka battery grip is on par with other 3rd party battery grips like the meike model, which are all manufactured in the same place, just rebranded. As other reviewers have shown on the internet, the 3rd party battery grip is made out of medium quality plastic and not magnesium like the OEM bg-e6 grip. The buttons are plasticky and the shutter button is not a soft press button compared to the canon oem grip. Reasons why you should purchase a battery grip (3rd party or OEM): allows you to hold the camera in vertical without muscle fatigue, adds battery life, balances the camera better. Reasons why you shouldn't buy a battery grip: more weight, an additional purchase, grip is not weather sealed (but neither is the battery compartment for the 5d2 without a grip), less obtrusive.

  • Canon 5D MkII BG-E6 Repair (replacing the broken wheel on the grip)

Repairing a Canon BG-E6 battery grip with broken thumbwheel. A poorly designed part that has caused many a 5D2 owner major grief. The replacement plate goes for about $30. Mine came with a brass gear, but I'm not sure all replacement plates will. It takes a little patience to do this job, so take your time chipping away at the plastic thumbwheel until you have a big enough opening to accept a small flat blade screwdriver that you will use to turn the brass gear inside and release the BG-E6.

  • BeachTek DXA-5Da Canon 5D II with optional BG-E6 Battery Grip

This model of the DXA mixer works great with the Canon 5D and optional BG-E6 grip. I think the sound quality is very good using a Sony wireless microphone. Disigned very well for working with a Canon 5D, very good sound. Has a switch to shut AGC off. YES! You can change batteries in the grip, without removing the mixer!
