I wanted to use a wireless remote control at distance from behind the camera but the Canon RC-6 remote only works when there is a clear line between the remote control and the sensor. I devised this way of using the remote by using a hair band and a mirror. This set up allowed me to photograph garden birds in my back garden from a distance of 6m. My Fiancee provided the hair band and the mirror. I tested the set up on the 19th April 2011 and it worked really well, i will be putting black tape on the front of the mirror as i found it frightened the birds as they saw movement on the shiny surface. I hope my video is of use to anyone who is interested in photography. I do recommend the Canon RC-6 which cost me £20 from Jessops but it can be purchased cheaper on Ebay. I filmed this using my little Samsung L201. kind regards Stevie

www.dslrfilmnoob.com One very handy thing and a function that isn't covered very well in the manual is the ability to start and stop recording using a simple remote control. With either the Canon RC-1, RC-5 or a generic IR remote you can set your canon 7d, 60d, or t2i up to focus and record video. By taking a photo with the remote the camera will auto focus on the target in front of it. Once the camera is focused on the object the other button will start and stop video recording on the camera. This handy feature allows you to focus remotely when recording yourself in video blogs like the one above. If you're interested in picking up the generic remote this is a good place to start www.amazon.com If you would like to spend a little extra on the Canon brand remote they are also very easy to get a hold of: www.amazon.com Equipment used in this video: Canon 7d & t2i Canon 35mm f1.4 Canon 50mm f1.4 Sennheiser g2 wireless mic CPM FILM TOOLS RIG Canon RC-1 Generic RC-1

Test of my Canon 60D 's video ability, using the onboard microphone (on a very very windy day - up to 60 mph blasts) and testing for the first time, the Canon RC-6 remote control. This is in a recreated town. If you head up to the Delaware Water Gap, from NJ to Pennsylvania, just before you hit the bridge, you take the last exit. It will take you through 2 scenic park systems in NJ, traveling on Old Mine Road. You will pass some very beautiful federal park areas which have been closed due to storms in 2011 (and with Park Money nonexistent, we will never know when they will be open to the public again). I am testing out my Canon 60D DSLR to see how it compares with earlier footage taken with an under $200. Kodak ZI8 Pocket camera. I'm amazed at this tiny Flip style camera at how it blows away my expensive photographic hardware. I'm using the Onboard microphone. This is Feb25, 2012, when up to 60 mph wind gusts were sweeping the tri-state area, and you can hear it in the video. Still, I wanted to check out how Canon's pinpoint, built in microphone fares when recording voices at 20 feet away.
We strapped the new 5Dmk2 onto our electric helicopter to see how the footage looks. Very cool possibilities to use fisheye and ultra wide lenses for some dramatic never before seen aerial footage.

unboxing RC-6 Canon remote control for rebel t3i eos 600D DSLR camera. if youre planning on using this with your camera, make sure you go to the menu and "enable" remote control usage. find these on ebay for really cheap - they even have other models that may allow you to use more functions...the remote that i have only clicks - there is no zoom or any other functions with it. on another note, does anyone know whats up with my camera's audio? is this normal or is my camera messed up? i tried to google this problem, but its really hard to find any answers. when i did this audio test, it actually came out somewhat clear (what i mean is, when i used this on previous videos without my "number test" to 15, the sound was SO HORRIBLE you couldnt really tell what i was saying at all). anyways, any info would be appreciated about the subject. thanks again!
An unboxing of the photive rc 6 wireless shutter release. Amazon link: www.amazon.com So far after using it, it has worked pretty well! Some reviews said it worked only up to about 5 feet but I have used it from more than 15 feet away. We'll take a look at every aspect of the remote in a video in which we test and review it! If you have a certain camera and want to know if it works with your camera, we can take a look at the list that came in the box and see if it says it works. If you have any questions let us know!
