I was sorely mistaken. I bought the Coolpix S3100 before this and it lasted only 4 weeks. The lens mechanism has failed at the slightest hint of dust. I will be returning to the store as soon as I get back.- It does everything I need it to and then some.- I was not interested in the GPS, but there is no alternative model.- This camera is the best I have seen in this category and I have tried all the other major brands.- I have yet to test it's underwater capabilities, but again I only want it to survive a wet day out or being used on the ski slopes. Bottom line, that is IT: save your money. Two points need to be said here. 1- Having looked and played with this device for a few weeks now, I don't think it has the same toughness and reliability than the Md-B80. You get what you pay for... If you are a hobbyist photographer like me, this is for you. 2- I believe I had a problem with the connectors. At one point, the sub-command dial from the grip suddenly stopped working. So I removed the grip from the camera, cleaned the push pins that goes in the camera inside the battery socket and that was it. Everything came back to normal. I shared that little problem with the merchant and right away, he offered me to take the grip back and to send me another one. I thought that was over the top service since the grip was working fine now... Conclusion: 5 stars for the grip. I shot more than 2000 pics since I had this grip and it's perfect. 5 stars for the seller. Super service, mega-quick ship, fast reply to my questions. I will definitely buy from theses guys again."
