The clip is close to the end of the DVD, after all the controls, Commander Mode, and wireless operation have been discussed. In this demonstration, Tim Mantoani uses speedlights with an altered ambient exposure to get the result he "sees" in his mind rather than what he "sees" with his eyes. www.BlueCraneDigital.com Below is the copy from the back of the DVD Confused after reading the manual? Operating the Nikon SB-600 as a slave using the Nikon SB-900 as a CLS commander in repeat mode. The initial burst of flash from the SB-900 are the CLS pre-flashes to tell the SB-600 what to do, how often, and how many times. This will not work if using the built in flash as a popup CLS commander, only with the SU-800, SB-800 and SB-900. SB-900, CLS Commander, 10 times @ 2Hz (two flashes per second). Questions? Go here: www.youtube.com Here's how to use Nikon Creative Lighting System (CLS) using your camera's onboard flash alone. FAQ Question: Does this work with a remote flash like SB-600, SB-700, SB-800, SB-900, SB-910, and SB-R200? Answer: If your camera has a built-in flash with Commander Mode option available in the flash Custom Settings Menu then yes. Question: Why can't I find Commander Mode in my camera's menus? Answer: It's either because your camera doesn't support this feature or you have to enable My Menus for Detailed/Full to see more menu options. Question: Why can't I disable the onboard flash? Answer: It is necessary for the onboard flash to fire in order to trigger remote flashes. If you wish to prevent the onboard flash from affecting the photograph, buy a Nikon SG-3IR Panel and slide it into the flash hot shoe. The panel will block the light but continues to trigger the remote flash(es) wirelessly. Question: Is Auto FP possible with this setup? Answer: No, you'll need SB-700, SB-800, SB-900, SB-910, or SU-800 Commander to make it possible. Question: What's the maximum distance for this setup to work? Answer: 10.5m or 33ft, depending on your environment. If the location has too much direct sunlight and/or reflective surfaces, it may be difficult for the remote flash(es) to pick up the signal. SU-800 Commander doubles the range but restrictions still apply. Question: Why won't my remote flash fire? Answer: The infrared red sensor on the front of your ...
Control of light is often the essential element in the making of a great photograph. Not long ago Nikon asked still-life wizard Jody Dole to turn his expertise, experience and imagination toward the creation of a series of step-by-step lighting videos that would demonstrate how anyone can control light. Along the way he used everything from window light to...well, something a little more complex. He begins with the most sophisticated image, and in the this video you'll see Jody create the lighting for a psaltery, an antique musical instrument that he surrounds with items from his extensive collection of curios. Lighting for this still life comes from five SB-900s which are controlled by an SU-800 Wireless Speedlight Commander on his D700; the lens is an AF-S NIKKOR 24-70mm f/2.8G ED. And check out Jody's use of his laptop to monitor his results, a vital step made possible by Camera Control Pro 2 Nikon software. Jody's website, which features an extensive array of his studio images, is at www.jodydole.com.

www.adorama.com Adorama Photography TV presents Exploring Photography with Mark Wallace. In this episode, Mark teaches you how to properly use speedlights and strobes in the same lighting setup. Mixing speedlights and strobes can be tricky when using an IR trigger, because the speedlight's "preflash" will accidentally trigger the strobe before the exposure is made. Mark will explain how to use radio triggers to ensure your lights trigger at the same time, every time. Usually Advanced Wireless Lighting is recommended for standard multiple flash photography.Commander mode remote flash and SU-4 options are very useful even for one flash when we use with umbrella. Those two options are work for off-camera flash firing. We used manual modes for fixed light output calculations in this video. We already uploaded some 'off camera flash' videos with ttl cable and wireless triggers in this channel. We are not professionals. We used in a basic level, you can use even more advanced way.
