Canon EF-S 17-55 F/2.8 IS USM LENS
There are good reasons to get this lens. The main one being the 17-55 is a constant F/2.8 aperture which lets you do SO many things including low light photography, better video, good "bokeh" (blurred backgrounds) and more. Good lens for upgrading from the 18-55 "kit" lens.

Canon EF-S 15-85mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM Lens Review
I used this lens with Canon 500D and didn't notice a huge difference in picture quality in comparison with the kit lens, therefore I've returned 15-85mm and bought a prime 50mm f/1.4. It was a good swap. This is my first review, so don't be too harsh in comments below :) Thanks for watching

Canon 500D EF-s 18-55 f/3.5-5.6 IS vs EF-s 17-55 f/2.8 IS USM Focusing Speed
The 17-55 is often pitted against the 18-55 kit lens on forums but there arten't that many videos of the two side by side. This video was something i slapped together for the POTN forum when someone asked about focusing speed. I mostly use my 7D these days but with the 500D if you can't upgrade quick USM lenses solves some of the shortcomings of the AF sensor on the Rebel cameras.

Canon EOS 500D + 18-55 IS + Inverted 0.45x wide angel lens
Canon EOS 500D + "Digital high defenition 0.45X super wide angel lens with macro japan optics" +++Inverted External part of 0.45X lens+++ I used 62m-58f Adapter Ring. So I did not need to disassemble parts of external part of lens ^_^ Result is more spherical effect, but worse quality on the borders. But i like it :) _________________________________________ Canon EOS 500D и широкоугольная насадка 0.45x Перевернул линзу во внешней части ширика, использую переходное кольцо 62п-58м. Не пришлось разбирать конструкцию. В результате бОльший сферический эффект, но ухудшение кач-ва по краям изображения. Интересный художественный эффект, к тому же совсем не дорого.
