Unboxing Nikon D7000 & Other Kits
I bought this whole package from Amazon.com on June 18, 2011 and got it on July 27, 2011. The waiting was excruciating but it was worth it. When the box was delivered by UPS, it wasn't properly taped on all open seams so it was easy for some items to come out of the box or have someone access it but thank goodness, all the items were inside the box. I bought the Nikon D7000 with the Nikkor 18-105 mm f/3-5-5.6 AF-S DX VR ED kit lens and on the day I bought it, Amazon has it on sale at it's lowest price of $1472.71. I also bought an extra zoom lens: the Nikkor 50-200mm f/4-5.6G AF-S DX VR ED IF that came with a free Tiffen 52mm UV Protector Filter and a Nikon $100 instant rebate so I merely got these two items for $98.11. What an awesome deal!!! I also bought some other kits to prepare myself for my new hobby that I'm about to venture. I just need to buy a fast Nikkor micro and telephoto lenses, a Nikon SB-700 Speedlight flash, a light diffuser, and some digital photography books (Scott Kelby's). I plan to take some beginner's digital photography classes as well. I will post a live unboxing video soon.

How To Fix Your Sh*t: Nikon Bayonet Mount (AF-S 18-55/18-105/18-135 Variants)
Accidents do happen, right? Sometimes you're out with a lovely companion just having some drinks, laughing and taking some pictures along the way when the inevitable happens: you drop the small bag carrying your DSLR. Not allowing it to ruin your social interaction, you pass it off and let the evening go on. (Disclaimer: Purely hypothetical event; author denies any involvement with said lovely companion.) In the morning you find out exactly what happened: the plastic tabs on the mount of your lens has broken off. While most people would probably write off the whole lens altogether, it just doesn't seem economical when a fix shouldn't be that hard. Assuming you guys have had the same experience with this bayonet mount problem, we'll let you know how we got it fixed. froknowsphoto.com If you came here looking for some cool new Nikon lenses I am sorry, these are not then. But if you are into MEGA ZOOMS than the NEW NIKON 18-300 3.5-5.6 AFS VR could be for you. Oh yea, the other lens is the Nikon 24-85 3.5-4.5 AFS VR. Lets get the 24-85 out of the way first. If you own any of Nikons full frame camera this lens is NOT FOR YOU. I would not put this lens anywhere near a full frame body. I would not consider this a pro lens and I feel on the full frame cameras you should put the 2.8 lenses or better. With that said this could be the "kit" lens that could come with a possible lower end full frame camera. Only time will tell on that one. The second lens I will not be as harsh on as I know exactly who it is for. The Nikon 18-300 VR is for that person who wants "one lens to rule them all". This does not mean that the person is not looking for quality it just means they are looking to carry less gear but be able to have a huge zoom range. This is going to be more expensive than the Nikon 18-200 but I think for the extra reach it is going to be well worth it. This is a DX lens so your will pretty much get a 27-450mm reach which is just insane. Keep in mind this is not a lens that a PRO or someone looking to be a pro should purchase. It will not give you the low light results you will be looking for. This is for the person who purchases a DSLR to shoot in mostly the auto modes and who says they want a mega zoom.
