Kodak Zi10 PlayTouch camcorder test with external mic (1080P)
Testing the Kodak PlayTouch camcorder, aka Zi10, in 1080P mode (1920x1080 at 30 fps) with an Olympus ME-51S external stereo microphone attached and the Kodak's mic gain control turned all the way up. The store was fairly empty and quiet at the time, but the audio volume still seems rather low. At the normal mic gain setting (midrange) it came out even quieter. The 4X digital zoom does not "stutter" in 1080P mode but the image does get quite grainy and pixellated at full zoom.

Kodak Zi10 PlayTouch camcorder test (720P 60fps)
This is a test of Kodak's newest pocket video camera, the PlayTouch, aka Zi10, in 720P (1280x720) 60 fps mode. It is basically the same thing as the Kodak Zi8, except with a larger 3-inch touch screen. Aside from that, to me it doesn't seem like an improvement over the Zi8. The built-in mic still is only mono (although it has a stereo external mic jack, just like the Zi8) and it picks up a lot of noise from operating the controls. The Zi10's Electronic Image Stabilization does seem to be improved, but the video quality is not any better than the Zi8, and the 4X digital zoom still stutters about halfway through its range.

Kodak Zi10/PlayTouch 1080p @ 30FPS Indoor Quality Test
I recently upgraded to a camera that's better than my previous cameras. That camera is the Kodak Zi10 also known as the PlayTouch. It cost around $180 once tax and everything was added when I bought it yesterday, which is a pretty good deal. It records at 1080p at 30FPS, 720P at 60FPS, 720p at 30FPS, and WVGA. The 60FPS would be better for motion, but since my videos don't have much motion at all the 1080p is great. The first thing I noticed was that the video looks much warmer than that of my Microsoft LifeCam Studio. I kind of like it since it makes the window in the background less distracting. One of the bad things though about this camera is the file size. Even with compression the files are pretty large, but at least you can swap SD cards in and out of this camera. So for just under $200 you're getting a whole lot of value, to get much better quality you'll have to spend close to $1000 on a good DSLR camera, or even more on a more high end camcorder, and a ton more on a professional camcorder. Painted Turtle- Kodak Zi10 (playtouch) and Canon Vixia HF S100 Great Cypress Swamp
A Painted Turtle (Chrysemys picta) in the Great Cypress Swamp (where I work). This was my first time using my new Kodak Playtouch Zi10 outdoors (I used it at an indoor Chirs Thile Michael Daves concert as well, I posted those videos also) and I was very happy with it, particularly with the macro-mode closeups. Both cameras (Zi10 and Canon HF S100) are excellent for their respective price ranges and I highly recommend either.
