I took my new Canon EOS T2i / 550D on a field test. Camera did a good job taking full HD 1080p at 30 frames per second. I used a 4GB Kingston SDHC Class 4 card. Basically I wanted to test my memory card how it handles the recording. Honestly, there was no hick ups at all. Though I bought a Panasonic SDHC Class 10 card. Also bought a Kingston 32GB Class 10. I am going to do some more tests and will upload them later. Have a big expectation from the camera. So far so good . . . . .

www.dslrfilmnoob.com I often get questions about memory cards. Well i've already covered Compact flash cards so lets take a look at SDHC cards. The canon t2i data rate is ruffly 45Mbits per second which is about 5.89Mbytes per second. Since class 4 cards are only designed to handle 4Mbytes a second they are probably not a good choice. Class 6 cards can handle 6Mbytes per second which is just enough to handle the video footage coming from your t2i However the price for Class 10 cards has dropped to the point that there isn't a good reason to risk using Class 6 cards. Class 10 cards can handle 10Mbytes a second which gives you plenty of head room for video recording. Plus if you plan to use the Magic lantern hack you might end up wanting to record at an even higher bit rate. So for a price difference of about $3 its worth it to spend a little extra and pick up a class 10 card. Sandisk a has the highest price Class 10 Cards on the market I would try one of the other brands like Transcend, ADATA, or PNY. 16GB Transcend card for $28: www.amazon.com Equipment used in this video: Canon 7d Canon 35mm f1.4 Zoom h1 sennheiser g2 wireless mic CPM film tools Rig Lilliput hdmi monitor

Similar to TZ7, T78, TZ6. Several short very different clips in different conditions showing how good the panasonic tz10 camera is. Massive zoom camera, video filming, high quality video. Information on recording times: Answer to how long without a SD card is not long at all. Dont count on using internal memory at all, it is very very small. As for with an SD card, there is one very important factor you need to consider, the class of the SD card. I use a 8 Gb LEXAR 133 X Professional SDHC card, it is a Class 10 card so minimum constant write speed of 20 Mb/s. I used to have a Class 6 Lexar card also 133 X and form the professional range and could record normally, but with a class 4 card i couldnt record more than 5 to 10 seconds on the maximum resolution before it just stops it and goes 'card is to slow'. So invest in a fast card, at least class 6 to ensure the camera reaches its potential. There is no exact statements on mb/s for the videos, but on AVCHD SHD (i calculated this based on my videos) one minute is around 110 Mb. So 8 Gb (what i use) is 8192 (mb) / 110 = 75, so that is 75 minutes on max resolution in AVCHD, so with 16 Gb it is 150 minutes, 32 Gb 300 minutes (5 hours then). In lowest AVCHD resolution (still HD though) it is 100 Mb for a 1minute 45 second video. so it is about 1 Mb per second, so it is around 8300 seconds for 8 Gb, so 140 minutes, 16 Gb is 280 Minutes, and 32 Gb is 560 minutes, so nearly 10 hours. So to sum up. Max resolution AVCHD, 16 Gb is ...
Link: www.buy.com With speeds up to 22MB/sec. read and 18MB/sec. write, the SDHC Ultimate Class 10 is ideal for anyone who uses their digital equipment for serious photography or video and makes it easy to capture HD video. It's available in 16GB and 32GB capacities to capture up to 252 minutes of HD video.
Not all class 10 cards write/read at the same speed. This card has a max 20MB/s read 16MB/s write get 71 fine images in 24 seconds. The SanDisk Extreme III class 10 has a 30MB/s read write speed gets 100 images in the same time.
I made this video just to prove that a 32gb sdhc card WILL work in the pioneer avh-p3200. I use a class 2 card...I've tried a class 6 and the unit wouldn't recognize it. And also make sure that you convert the video into Divx format and the resolution of your converting software has to be less than 720x404...because that's high def and the unit doesn't read hi def. I record at 640x320. I'm not a software pro..I only know this because I had the same problem but I did some research and found software that allowed me to adjust the resolution.
*UPDATE 28th June 2011* - Seems like the problem has been resolved with the new 10.6.8 update. It can take awhile, at least 10 seconds at times, for the card to be detected, but at least it now works! Thanks to Houdini528 for highlighting it! If you're still having problems please share so others are aware. Cheers! ----------------------------- I have this problem which is quite frustrating. I recently purchased a 15 inch 2011 MBP 2.2ghz i7 and everything's great, except for that I'd also recently bought a Sandisk 16gb Extreme SDHC Class 10 SD Card, and it can't seem to be read on the new laptop!!! It works through an external reader, it also works on older versions of MBPs and iMacs. At times, for some reason, it works on the new laptop too! I understand that the new SD Card Readers for the 2011 MBPs are wired through PCIE, unlike the older models which are wired through a USB port on the chipset...could this be affecting the problem? Apple please resolve this soon, Sandisk won't (and shouldn't) take back the card because there's nothing wrong with it. *I don't have a video here, but the card also faces the same problem on 2 other early 2011 MBPs I've tested them on, so I doubt it's just my laptop that's acting up.

Mushkin 32 GB Class 10 Memory Card Review. Here's my review of the Muskin 32GB Class 10 SDHC Memory Card. I bought this card for $21.00 from NewEgg for use in my Canon Vixia HFM-301 camcorder. Basically I wanted a cheaper 32 GB card. Preferrably one that works. Since my camera is capable of recording video at 24MBPS, (AVCHD H.264) I knew that I'd need a card that could write at least 4-6 MBPS continuously. The camcorder doesn't require a Class 10 card, but the prices are good for Class 10. Plus, if I ever get DSLR to use for video, I'll have a memory card for it. The Mushkin specifications state that the card does data at 10MBPS. So, I tested it by using it in my camcorder. I recorded the video at full HD 1080P, 24 MBPS for 32 minutes. I experienced no problem formatting the card in my camera, no errors, no buffering or any problems using it in the camera or while transferring the video to my computer. I didn't measure the actual write speed, but it appears to be as advertised. So for $21.00 and free shipping, I think it's worth it.. I'll be using it over time and if it dies, I'll update this video. Wondering what Class of SDHC memory card you should be using?
