As opposed to having an anti-shake function in the camera body, this lenss Hybrid Optical Stabilizer provides not only an anti-shake function for the camera body, but also compensates for image shaking in the view finder as the Optical Stabilizer is built in to the lens. Incorporating four Special Low Dispersion glass elements and three aspherical lens elements provides excellent image quality throughout the entire zoom range.

This multipurpose zoom lens offers Optical Stabilization and covers focal lengths from wide angle to telephoto and macro photography. Sigma are the only ones using Thermally Stable Composite. TSC, is used in the lens barrel and is often compared to polycarbonate. It has a high degree of elasticity and exhibits little variation in its structure in extreme temperatures. This means that internal barrel expansion and contraction due to extreme temperature differences is less prevalent. TSC also contributes to the lens' size reduction. Quote: By redesigning the lens and adding TSC, we are able to offer this very compact, feature-rich lens that is flexible enough to tackle a range of photography, including landscape, sport and macro. There is no pricing as of yet. The Canon mount version is coming in July, 2012 Then followed by Sigma, Sony, Nikon, and Pentax mounts.
