www.learningdslrvideo.com I am reviewing the Tokina 11-16mmF/2.8 Pro AT-X116DX f/Canon version lens. I am going to discuss: 1. Price, 2. Show lots of b-roll I have shot, what this lens is good for, 3. Sharpness test, 4. Speed of focus, 5. Build quality, 6. Which cameras this works well for. Price tokina-11-16I would say like to say I am not Scott Bourne, if you don't know who he is you should start listening to his podcast 'photofocus'. I don't own as many lenses as Scott does, so this review will be geared towards amateurs like myself that are on a budget. First off, wow look at all these reviews of this lens on B&H, which is a ton for a 3rd party lens! I have high expectations. Better be good at $600 which is only $75 cheaper than the price of my camera. They say you should invest in your glass and not the camera body, I hope they are right! But you really need to put this in perspective because if you wanted to buy something similar like the Canon Super Wide Angle EF 14mm f/2.8L II USM it goes for $2220! Isn't pretty much all of Tokina and some of Canon's glass all come from Hoya anyway? I know a ton of people are searching for the Tokina 11-16mm on Craigslist to find an even cheaper price. I looked in my area but no one was selling this lens, they must like it too much to give it up. Examples of What do you use it for? Check out this shoot I got on the ski slopes, before I got kicked off, I love how dramatic the distortion of a wide angle gives you. A wide angle lens ...
This movie is about the most beautiful castle in germany. It´s the Neuschwanstein Castle, which was built 1869 on behalf of Ludwig II, king of Bavaria as a retreat to Richard Wagner. King Ludwig just lived there for two months (in one of the towers) and died before the palace has been finished. This is my first movie, where also my girlfriend was shooting several shots with my 7D. It took three days to gather all those nice places in the south of germany, close to Austria. We walked I dunno how many miles with all the equipment on this very sunny days, but it was a great pleasure to see this nice place again after 20 years. The all-new AT-X 124 AF PRO DX lens is Tokina's first lens designed for use exclusively on Canon and Nikon Digital SLR cameras having an APS-C sized sensor. This lens gives the Digital Photographer an ultra wide-angle zoom lens that has the equivalent of an 18-36mm zoom range on a 35mm film camera while maintaining a bright constant aperture of f/4. Professional Features: Non-rotating 77mm filter threads mean special effect filters will not change when the lens' focus is changed. Tokina recommends using HOYA PRO 1 Series low profile filters with the AT-X 124 PRO DX. Fast internal focusing with Tokina's One-Touch focus clutch mechanism allows the lens to AF focus faster and switching between auto and manual focus is as easy as snapping the focus ring back and forth. 2 sharp-cut aspherical elements accurately correct aspherical aberration usually associated with ultra-wide angle lenses. Bright, constant f/4 aperture allows plenty of light to enter the camera for shooting in a wide variety of photographic situations. Chrome plated brass mount plate and all-metal zoom unit can stand up to regular use while advanced polycarbonate outer lens barrels reduce the weight of the lens, making it a pleasure to carry.

Some of you may know that I have loved nikon cameras for as long as I can remember and have been using them for about 4 years now. It was a tough decision but i have decided to switch to Canon. This is mainly because of the amazing video the canon DSLR's produce. I needed to upgrade my gear since i have started doing a lot of work as a freelance photographer and decided that now was the time to switch. Although i will always love nikon over canon for stills i think it is more a matter of preference and there is not to much that separates them. If you guys follow me on twitter twitter.com you know that i got this about three weeks ago. so far I am in love with the 7d, it produces amazing pictures and video. the only thing i miss about nikon mainly is the button placement, thats probably because im just so accustomed to nikons layout. anyways, many reviews and much more depth of field to come!
