After years of using the Fig Rig on his award-winning films, Mike Figgis brought his idea to Manfrotto (www.manfrotto.com). An idea that is non-traditional in design, but purely simple and effective. The only modular system in the world to smoothly support the DV camera and act as a frame to mount all the accessories including zoom controllers, mics, mixers, lights, monitors, arms... A circular frame with a crossbar to mount most mini DV cameras, the Fig Rig becomes part of the body to produce smooth, steady traveling shots. It is this very fact which is the secret to the Fig Rig. As the operator walks, his/her muscles and tendons absorb all the shocks, transferring only fluid movements to the camera. As there are no straps or harnesses attached to the Fig Rig, and quick and wide movements can be made within the same shot from ground-level to overhead, in one smooth movement. Quick review since I have to send the Manfrotto 595B Fig Rig back, since I did not do a very thorough review with lots of test footage I am placing this on my 2nd YouTube video channel. Works great for action videos It is easy to set up It is easy to learn compare to a glidecam It costs too much It looks silly Doesn't work well circling an object when you are crossing your legs as you circle (glidecam devices can do this much better) Doesn't travel well since you can't break it apart. Works well for both the Rebel or 5D3 cameras. I like to use it with a wide angle lens Works well with image stabilization turned on You can't focus with it unless you rig something up for that I am not buying it since it is too much money, I own a lot of Manfrotto gear and I love the company but this is just too much for me. Aunque muchas veces antes de comprarlo me tenia que recordar que no era un steady y que no hacia maravillas, tras utilizarlo me ha sorprendido y mucho este completo accesorio.Estabiliza muchisimo, y eso que simplemente se trata de "volante" con una barra en medio, quizas su precio eche para atras comparado con otros productos similares, pero la verdad es que la fiabilidad, consistencia y acabado que le da Manfrotto hace que valga cada euro que he pagado por el. El truco no esta solo en el aparato en si, si no tambien en el manejo del mismo, y del que aun no me he acostumbrado, pues se basa en que cogiendo firmemente el volante le das una estabilidad tu mismo con el juego de tus articulaciones, brazos y piernas, quedando el resultado final un movimiento natural pero tambien suavizado.A mis grabaciones le da un menor temblor en la imagen, quedando mucho mas estable que si sujetas la camara a una mano, o incluso con las dos, y cuando caminas con el el resultado es mucho mas visible, puedes seguir a un persona y que la imagen permanezca estable, como ya he dicho no es tan exagerado como un steady, la camara no va flotando ni mucho menos, pero suaviza el movimiento y estabiliza, que es lo importante.
