Jodi Palm, Product Category Manager, from Manfrotto gives a quick tour of the NeoTec Pro 458B tripod. The Manfrotto 458B features the innovative NeoTec rapid opening and closing mechanism. The legs open up by simply pulling down on each one, and automatically lock into any position, with no screws, knobs or levers to tighten. By pressing the release button at the top of the legs the legs can be collapsed again fully, or locked at any intermediate point for perfect positioning. And this innovative mechanism exerts more locking power the heavier the weight pushing down on it from above.

Manfrotto 055C Tripod solid base modification
Solid base modification by removing the center column and mounting the head directly to the base. I never really liked the 2-piece center column on my Manfrotto 055C. I felt it might make the head less stable because of the additional moving parts. Because my tripod was the perfect height without extending the center column, I decided to remove it and attach the ballhead directly to the legs. This should increase stability slightly while also reducing the weight slightly. Double bonus. The 2-piece center column is removed very easily by just removing the bottom rubber cap and then pulling it straight up. I removed the top plate, removed the center lock, and then found a 3/8 bolt and nut that could be placed inside the base. Any good sized washer and 3/8 bolt should work but I used an extra 3/8 quick release plate screw and nut instead. If I ever want to restore it back to original, it is a simple 3 minute job to re-install the center column.

In this case, it would have been helpful if the tripod was lighter, but given the design, it probably means sacrificing stability. Zur Zeit benötige ich für das Aufstellen max fünf Sekunden! Bitte auf der Zunge zergehen lassen fünf Sekunde und es steht. In Waage ausrichten ist dann meist schon mit erledigt. Schneller geht es mit keinem Anderen glaube ich. Es steht stabil und lässt sich fix umpositionieren. Zusammenklappen dauert etwa 2 Sekunden und weiter gehts, das ist sehr sehr angenehm! Das Upside down System ist klasse, den gerade auf sandigen Böden kann kommt einfach kein Schmutz in die Einschübe. Ich habe es sogar schon in 15 cm tiefes Wasser gestellt - kein Problem.Ganz zu Ende gedacht ist es im Detail leider nicht, so ist der untere Schlaufenring des Tragegurtes unnötiger Weise drehbar, was dazu führt das die Eloxierung der Beine zerkratzt. Da man die zweiteilige Mittelsäule ja nun für tiefe Aufnahmewinkel abnimmt ist das etwas ärgerlich, da Schmutz und Sand die Mittelsäle leicht verschmutzen.Wenn es einmal eine überarbeite Version geben sollte könnte ich mir vorstellen auch den fünften Stern zu geben.Fazit: wer <b>...</b>
