Union Pacific SD45T-2 with Soundtraxx Tsunami TSU-1000
My UP SD45T-2 #4794 with a Soundtraxx Tsunami TSU-1000 DCC/Sound decoder I recently installed. The horn I selected is a Nathan P3. The tunnel motor is part of Athearn's Ready to Roll series that allows for "easier" DCC upgrading. I had to solder the leads of the decoder onto the circuit board located just above the motor and the speaker sits just below the engine fans. Even though the Tsunami was fairly expensive ($115) it is worth it and I can see why Athearn recently switched from the MRC to Soundtraxx for their future Genesis DCC/Sound locomotives. Video was taken on my Canon SD1100IS at the Golden Gate Model Railroad Club on 7/28/09 at 2:09pm.

We actually lined up 250 cameras and controlled each strobos through a computer program. All the lights in the film are real, and no CG were used. Athearn UP Gas Turbine Verandah Locomotive with Tsunami Sound Realism at it's best.
This is the first run of my new Union Pacific Verandah Turbine. I had just finished installing a Tsunami Sound Decoder with two speakers, one at the front and one at the rear. This is an awesome loco and at a total cost of less than $300.00 I think it has to be the best buy I have made. The video was taken with my Iphone so please excuse the quality. In celebration you will probably notice the closeup view of the glass of Jim Beam and coke. LOL. The video shows what stage my layout is at, considered "work in progress" it gives me an excuse for the mess. This room was originally a colourbond feed shed on our property and i have insulated and lined it to become our train room. I say "our", because as you will see my Grandson features prominently in the video. He is a huge inspiration and lives, breathes and sleeps with trains constantly on his mind. The layout is DCC controlled with a Digitrax setup and to date has some 35 points( staging yet to be built under main layout) which are all controlled by my laptop computor and driven by model aircraft servos. I used Peco flexitrack and points and cork underlay. Most of the buildings seen around the layout have actually been constructed using 180-200GSM paper downloaded from various sites and printed on a Canon ink-jet printer, using paper glue and a hot glue gun, finished off with a craft spray to stop water smudges and fading. A little bit of weathereing and touch up with the grandkids coloured crayons and you wouldn't know <b>...</b>
